Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) in Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Continuum

چکیده

Spatial data infrastructure (SDI) is a system that supports the management and use of geospatial related resources. It involves creation maintenance network organizations, people, technology enables sharing across sectors stakeholders. In recent years, growth increasing reliance on it by various has led to emergence new trends in SDI, such as cloud computing big analytics, integration with other types data, emphasis open interoperability. Volunteered geographic information (VGI) refers collected contributed individuals or groups, rather than traditional sources using application web 2.0 location based applications, social media, mobile devices say citizens censors. Crowdsourcing generation concept VGI changed SDI having one way relationship producers users user driven where create diverse, high quality (spatial, temporal, attribute) also interoperable, transparently, world widely free cost. Various authors have discussed about digital point outs possibility starting form Global GIS platform, Data Spaces, System Systems (SoS), Geoverse, Digital Earth, Twin, Virtual Geographic Environment (VGEs). However, there exists multiple challenges quality, structure, differentiation, copyright, confidentiality privacy, but proper cooperation partnerships, policy legal arrangements, standard developments, financial inter/intra communication added advantages 3.0, Ecosystem containing SoS possible. Hence, present future this continuum.

Spatial Data Infrastructure and Voluntary Geographic Information

With the development of the Web 2.0 era, new technologies and applications have emerged to make it possible for individuals to produce and share geographic information on the Internet. This development is expanding at a high rate, and has received large response from users. Spatial data infrastructure is a framework of policies, institutional arrangements, technologies, data and people that mak...

Modeling and improving Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI)

Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) development is widely known to be a challenging process owing to its complex and dynamic nature. Although great effort has been made to conceptually explain the complexity and dynamics of SDIs, few studies thus far have actually modeled these complexities. In fact, better modeling of SDI complexities will lead to more reliable plans for its development. A state...

This paper is offered as a contribution to the Workshop on Cross-learning between Spatial Data Infrastructures, and Information Infrastructures, Enschede, 31 March-1 April, 2005. Its purpose is to consider some of the key challenges we see for the development of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) in the short and medium term. Although much attention has been given recently to the initiative of...

Automating Volunteered Geographic Information Systems in So- Cial Media: Theorizing Vgi as Geodemographic Surveillance ! !

! This paper considers Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), in particular the application of geotagging in social media photographs, as an emerging form of geodemographic consumer surveillance. Although the geoweb is typically framed within a context of participatory engagement with geospatial data by non-expert cartographers (Goodchild 2007; Elwood 2008), scholars have articulated the nee...
